I will love my Mexican heritage and culture until the day I die, but you will not fucking wave that flag in my face and tell me México está libre y independiente. You cannot deceive our own people. Mexico is not free. We may not be ruled by the Spaniards or French anymore, but guess who replaced them? Bankers, Corporations with monopolies on everything, the Mexican elite, Political Parties that have committed fraud and have stolen our democracy. Don’t you dare wave a flag depicting an Aztec legend and tell me that the Indigenous people of Mexico are doing fine. Don’t you dare tell me the 57 million people living in poverty are celebrating their own independence. Don’t you dare forget the hundreds of thousands of people killed, missing, or displaced because of a drug war forced upon us at the hands of our own government and American interests involed. Don’t you dare ignore the millions of Mexicans that migrate to el Norte because they have little choice. What glory will you really be celebrating next Sunday? When Mexico is truly free and independent, her honor will be everyones. Until then, face reality.

I love my México with all of my heart, but I do not love the government that runs it, I do not support the tyranny and greed and corruption that defines it now, and I certainly do not support the “democracy” that everyone praises us for having.
My love for my country is for our people, for our lands and our heritage and our struggle - not for a government.

Okay, I wish I would NEVER have to make a post like this.. but here it is.
That’s Emily, a girl I’ve known for about 10 years. That’s her face a couple of days after her boyfriend beat the shit out of her. She has to get facial surgery for broken bones, a titanium plate inserted for her “pulverized cheekbones”.
She has been amazingly open about her experience and very optimistic, retaining her sense of humour, but her ex-boyfriend hasn’t been caught yet. He beat her in Arizona but he might be out of the state by now.
His name is Chris Young. He’s a raver and a DJ. I’m not friends with him on facebook, so I can’t get any better pictures than that. But you can see that she trusted him. And he broke that trust in trying to break her.
